reflections This takes some preparation. You need to choose a background theme, such as healing, and then to locate some healing stories in the Gospels. For example:

  • The woman with the haemorrhage (MK 5:21-43)
  • The thief on the cross (LK 23:39-43)
  • Mary Magdalene (LK 7:36-50)

Write on a number of pieces of card the reference to the event and the person in that event people are to identify with; clearly you can have two people from the same incident i.e. you can have the man lowered from the roof and someone from the room. (Mk 2:1-12) You can have people with names given and people whose names are unknown to us.

Then in your group give out Bibles (if people have not brought them with them) and give out the cards randomly. Ask the group to ‘roll play’ the person they have on their card. They are to imagine that they are all gathered in a room after the death and resurrection of Jesus. Ask them to remember the incident identified in the biblical reference during a period of quiet and then share with others their experience of Jesus from that perspective. Then finally as people break from that post resurrection experience ask them to share the experience they have been through.
